MCLEAN, Va .– (BUSINESS WIRE) – January 10, 2022–
Revised, a consumer product review website, part of Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) and the UNITED STATES NETWORK TODAY launched a dedicated accessibility category focused on providing in-depth information on adaptive products, assistive technology and accessible design for people with disabilities and their caregivers. This new expanded section with continuous coverage represents a necessary advancement for the industry and allows Reviewed to reach a historically underserved audience.
With more than a billion people worldwide living with a disability, representing approximately 15% of the world’s population 1, Review’s accessibility coverage aims to take the stress out of finding products for consumers with disabilities who trust often based on word of mouth recommendations and adapt everyday products to meet their specific needs.
Accessibility Editor-in-Chief Sarah Kovac, award-winning author and speaker living with dexterity issues caused by arthrogryposis, will help lead this one-of-a-kind section. Sarah is a passionate and knowledgeable accessibility advocate based on her personal experience, and this category will also serve as a platform to amplify the voices of the disability community.
“I am proud to see Reviewed recognize the need to provide increased coverage around accessibility products, thereby filling a void that I and other consumers with disabilities have always felt exists,” said Kovac. “A good accessibility product can be the difference between being independent and relying on others to survive. I experienced it, as did my team contributors, which instills a collective passion that drives our coverage and, hopefully, emboldens members of our community.
The Accessibility section of Review will also include product recommendations and ideas for aging consumers and those who care for them.
“We are seeing more brands than ever looking to break into the accessibility category and we expect this year to be full of products aimed at a wide range of consumers with disabilities,” said David Kender, editor-in-chief of review. “Here at Reviewed, we look forward to serving this community with our expanded accessibility coverage and hope it inspires others.”
Since 1997, Reviewed has been committed to applying a scientific, laboratory-based approach to its product testing and review processes. With an extensive testing facility in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and over 100 writers, scientists, product experts, editors, and contributors, the Reviewed team performs practice tests on thousands of products each year to provide readers with the most recommendations. reliable and enlightened.
The Accessibility section of Reviewed represents Gannett’s ongoing commitment to make a significant investment in diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, from the coverage it brings to the newsrooms that underpin it.
